Quote

I came across this quote about the abolition of slavery this morning and It gave me chills.

"I am aware that many object to the severity of my language; but is there not cause for severity? I will be as harsh as truth, and as uncompromising as justice. On this subject, I do not wish to think, or to speak, or write, with moderation. No! no! Tell a man whose house is on fire to give a moderate alarm; tell him to moderately rescue his wife from the hands of the ravisher; tell the mother to gradually extricate her babe from the fire into which it has fallen; — but urge me not to use moderation in a cause like the present. I am in earnest — I will not equivocate — I will not excuse — I will not retreat a single inch — AND I WILL BE HEARD."

—William Lloyd Garrison, inaugural editorial in the anti-slavery journal The Liberator, 1 January 1831

Slavery for some people I can think of would improve the world, maybe we can bring it back in a democratic fashion, by public referendum for instance.

Such a harse contrast between this and the last post.

Oh yes John. Harse indeed.

The Harsest!

But on a more serious note, the people that I would most like taken out of action (ie put into slavery, as Julian suggests) would make crap slaves. What to do?

Sarah and Margie are you being Harse to John? Why must you both continually pick on the linguistically challenged?

Pot, kettle, black.
