They're coming...

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team.

Who else is excited?

Looking to replace that train picture Matt?

If anyone feels that they have entered an art-collecting phase of their lives (and are confident enough of NOT being entirely hung-over on Saturday), come along to Art Sydney at Fox Studios this Saturday.

Tix are $20 for 2 if pre-bought. Thorpie might (or might not) be there.

Happy Birthday Lady

A quick stroll down memory lane will lead you to the quite frightening experiment we conducted for your birthday 4 years ago, kindly documented by Mattwa here.

Enjoy!

THANKYOU

to the Flitcrofts, Nicolai, Mattwa, Jeff, Jenny & Alex.

Your help was absolutely wonderful. A special loaf of gratitude fresh from the oven to the sofa boys – Flit getting it out of Ridge St and Nicolai, Mattwa and Jeff getting up that damned fire escape in Neutral Bay. MAGIC!

Trans Domicile Fiesta!

Pleased to see dry skies ahead tomorrow when Noodle and I will ACTUALLY. MOVE. HOUSE. (Only two and a half months after taking possession. Yay?)

For those lovely people who have kindly volunteered themselves for a little healthy exercise and a chance to peruse our new investment, our plans will unfurl thusly:

We’ll have a our 2ton truck ready to start loading the big stuff from Gordon at about 9:30am. Once it’s full and we’ve loaded cars etc, we’ll head over to Neutral Bay and undo all our hard work by taking stuff back out of the truck and putting it inside, but this time in our little 2 bedder.

Guzzling pizza and beer while perched on boxes afterwards. Everyone loves a fiesta!

Quidong LWE camping and veranda raising‏

Perhaps a little strangely, this is the only photo I got from the camping weekend:

Here, Jenny is stylishly pimping her best skimpily dressed, leather-clad ho.

For anyone with a surplus of Kiwi Fruit

Heather May's Pav

4 egg whites (any trace of grease incl yolk in whites, bowl or mixer will destroy your meringue)
1 cup castor sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
¾ teaspoon white vinegar

Heat oven to 150C
Line oven tray with baking paper (not the same as greaseproof!)
Draw a 7" diameter circle on the paper

In a clean, dry glass or metal bowl (not plastic!) beat the egg whites till soft peaks form. If this doesn't work, you've gotten FAT!
Add 1/3 cup of sugar and beat till dissolved
Beat in remaining sugar. You should have a thick, glossy mixture.
Add vanilla and vinegar and beat for 1 minute

Spoon mixture onto circle and build up sides to about 3” high

Bake for 1½ hours
Cool on tray before gently removing with a knife
Top with whipped cream and pav fruit

Voila

Leftover yolks make BEAUTIFUL baked custard pots. Oo, maybe served with a warm orange toffee sauce!

Move over Heath

It appears that we have another SRF celebrity connection (whether or not we would like to publicly admit this will have to be discussed at our next AGM):

NB. SRF-ers who joined us within the last 10 years or so won’t recognise him.

Fruit N Veg

Following up on Jenny's post, I decided to try out the Kirribilli branch of the Organic Buyers Group. pickups are the 2nd Monday of every month and it's $30 box. The idea is everyone shows up at 6 to help sort then are free to go home with their produce. In this weeks I got,

2 HUGE halves of cauliflower
6 carrots
1 big head of romaine lettuce
8 oranges
2 avocados
1 box cherry tomatoes
1 box sprouts
2 tiny apples
1 bag mushrooms
7 kiwi fruit
7 potatoes
3 banana peppers.

Getting it home from Kirribilli was a minor ordeal given the box fell apart, luckily I wasn't too far from the station. Now I just have to figure out what to do with it all (recipe suggestions welcome) and I also have some NON-organic apples and bananas sitting in my fruit bowl that will surely go neglected.
