NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
The once-hot teenage television soap opera, The O.C., has been cancelled after too many viewers switched off. The final episode of the television drama will air on February 22 in the United States, Fox TV and Warner Bros Television Production said.
The finale "will deliver real closure to the series, to the story we began telling four years ago", series creator Josh Schwartz said in a statement.
"It will be fun and emotional and I think really satisfying. It is the finale we always planned to do."
The O.C. is aired by Network Ten in Australia, and is shown within days of its US broadcast. Based in the affluent Orange County city of Newport Beach in California, The O.C. was a big hit in its first season, in 2003-04, attracting a total audience of nearly 10 million in the US.
The show's story lines revolved around Ryan (Benjamin McKenzie), an outsider thrust into a heady new world of money and sex, and rich high school kids including Seth Cohen (Adam Brody) and Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) and their families.
The show did not sustain its momentum, dropping to about 7 million weekly viewers during 2004-05 and then to fewer than 6 million last season.
Since returning in November, it has drawn only about 4 million viewers.
The third season finale's high drama, in which Marissa was killed in a car crash, did not turn the series around. This year, Ryan confronts the death of his one-time girlfriend and the man who caused it.
Others in the show's cast include Peter Gallagher, Kelly Rowan, Melinda Clarke, Rachel Bilson and Autumn Reeser. Former Neighbours star Alan Dale also featured in the first two seasons

VB NYE
There was nothing high-falutin' about our NYE celebrations in Tumut. It was a weekend all about blood, sweat and beers.
The kindly Mattess accompanied us to Quidong for the long weekend where many an ambitious task was planned. There was a pool to demolish and a veranda to errect. The boys brought their tool boxes, my Dad brought the heavy equipment and my Mum brought the tea.
It was a weekend of blue open skies, seering sunshine, beers in the rain (yes RAIN!), work boots, builder's cracks, power tools, grunted converstaions, endless homecooked meals and little bit of Hobo & Christian on the stereo.

We discovered a new 'crumble' recipe, two toads, Dad's reo penchant, Mattess's 6 pack and Matten's supple hands. We caught up with Margaret's long-lost love (Lamb) spotted a few deadly animals, watched Dad cut willow branches for hungry cattle and ate corn chips shaped like Christmas trees.
There was many a chat about cricket, rivets and concrete setting.
Really, it could have been an ad for VB.
Mum tells me that Dad is now suffering from blokey-conversation withdrawal.

Bringing in 2007
The celebrations on Dec 31st started rather early for those of us keen enough to get a good spot on Cremorne point to catch the brilliance of the NYE fireworks SPECTACULAR!
Bunkering down under a rather threatening sky was a little daunting at first. We had a brilliant view (you just needed to walk 3 meters to the right of where we took this photo to have unobstructed views) and with the SMH huge crossword and the NW Crozzle, some playing cards and someone to explain the rules of spoons to a rather skeptical Nero, some bubbly and plenty of blankets we were all set to make a night of it!
as the sun went down, the party livened up.....
There was dancing...
and loads of sparklers (poor Flit's seem to have had their final sparkle already)
and with a kinda steady hand (too much bubbly by now) we took in the fireworks! We ooohed and we aaarrrrhhed and we clapped and we kissed everyone around us....ah memories!
I would say the one main drawback of the night was the trudge back up to civilisation (which was made easier by a chat to our Parisien friend over thoroughly choked mobile networks) and the trekking all over town to find the next party (or if you were heading back to the HOC, then the 90 minute walk down Military road!) Nevermind! We had fun! and I hope you all did too!
