Seeking approval

After some inquiries and a cost/benefit analysis of various properties, I would like to put forth the following option as a suggestion:

http://www.bluemts.com.au/leuraretreat/katoomba_retreat/kat_main.htm

It will come to $84 per person for the weekend ($42 pp,pn) and we will get both the Haveli and the Lotus Suite.

The Indian Haveli and Lotus Suite have stunning escarpment views from every room, and sun-decks. They have open plan kitchen/living areas, with a sunroom and Haveli has a huge
verandah with a BBQ. The living area has a nice big combustion stove to keep you warm.
The Lotus Suite has views over the valley from the spa.

They provide wood and also have gas heating. Also, gas instant hot water system, a CD Player, DVD Player and TV are also provided.

Pros: great price, suitable bed configuration, deck with view, close to sights, townships and Megalong Valley, good kitchen, fireplace

Basically, it's great value and looks really lovely. It fits in with the original specs of a cozy mountain cabin, rather than a house in the valley. I will go ahead and book this on Monday night if people are happy with it... Don't be left holding the peas...

Attention Winterfesters!

It feels like Tuesday but it's actually FRIDAY!!!

We are hours away from confirming numbers for the great Winterfest 2007 and cherry adornment. We are 10 if Bryan gets his job today or 11 if he doesn't. I'm making enquiries on houses in Wentworth Falls, Blackheath and Katoomba. Thought I'd see if I should also look into something like this or if poeple would prefer I stick to the beaten track.

Provide your opinion below.

Speak now or forever hold your peas.

SRF Event

Who: Anyone who has played for or showed up at the grounds in North Sydney in support of the mighty SRF Futsal team
What: End of season BBQ
When: Friday 20 April, 8pm
Where: H.O.C.

WhitSundays here I come.

Looks like my next holiday has been locked in and I'm so excited I had to share. 8 Days of sailing the Whitsundays in June. Yeah!

http://www.whitsundayescape.com/sailingYachts/beneteau51.htm

If it is as fun as it looks, I think a SRF sail trip is in order. It works out at about $150 per double bed per night + food + booze and $300 of airfares. A good deal if you ask me. I think we should take out the 8 person Cat with a spa on the front deck. Mmmmm.

Quick Tuesday Poll

What is your favourite Sydney restaurant?

(If you immediately feel like saying "I can't choose. There are just so many places for me" why not be a devil and just pick one!)

Last game of the season

Last night we played our last game of the season. We played hard and our mighty Captain, Mattes, scored two mighty goals for the mighty SRF!!

We had a solid fan base who cheered us along throughout and we only went down 9-3 to the team currently winning the competition!
Thus ends our season and our goal has been acheived of not losing by more than 10 goals in any game...we didn't even need to rely on averages to get this! Ha!

The first game of next season is sometime in May, so stay tuned and get set for dedicated training sessions (yes you too Shari!) and a whole lot more winning in 07.

ps we need a new goal for season 3....

Brewhaha

So apart from it being Easter this weekend (Happy Easter everyone!) it was also my first experience at brewing beer!

We went to the aptly named shop...Dave's Home Brew ....and bought our supplies.

Today we got home and started a brew-ing....

1. First you need a large tub, into which you pour a brown gloopy mixture of malt and hops. Then you pour in loads of boiling water to thoroughly dissolve it and mix well.
2. pour a large 1kg bag of malt (yes more malt!) into this watery brown sludge mixture, continue pouring in boiling water and of course, continue mixing well.3. Fill the rest of the tub with cold (preferably filtered) water4. Add a small sachet of yeast (only once the temperature of the brown watery stuff is below 20 degrees, or your yeast will die) and mix again.5. Firmly fix the one way airlock to the lid of the tub and put a bit of water in it so only CO2 can escape, but no air or bacteria can enter. Next push the lid on firmly so you create a tight seal.6. Now place your full tub in a comfortable corner where it can fizz and bubble away till it's ready, then invite everyone around for a winter ale at the House of Fillet! Stay tuned for the unveiling (we're gonna need a good name for our brew...I don't think "Fillet beer" will do)

Grrrrrrr

A little topical...

Tall man marries normal sized woman.

Tattoo Thursday: the challenge continues

I thought this was good....

And I think the less said about this one the better

Bitter ending

This morning on the train my husband (c'mon! you've got to let me do that for a few weeks!) made me hand back my key to the House of Chicken - the little key I've held for years now, the key to a world of cheerful hellos, channel 10 marathons, shared dinners, comfy sinking couches, rotting tea towels, communal teeth brushings, scorching hangovers, crowded dinner parties, drawn-out lawn maintenance and ever friendly faces.

I miss you H.O.C!
