Very Cool Game

So simple, yet so damn cool

SRF Event

What: The Leap Day Summer and Wiglet Farewell Cocktail Night
Why: It’s a leap day, summer is over and Wiglet died.
How: Consumption of cocktails and other elegant(ly priced) beverages in suitable (and where relevant, unsuitable) settings around the inner city of Sydney.
When: 8pm on Friday 29 February 2008, to make it leapy.
Where: Starting at The Lincoln, 36 Bayswater Road, Kings Cross. I've booked a spot in the lounge for us, 12 people under my name. We’ll probably share ourselves around so better call us if you’re late to make sure we haven’t moved on.
Oh, you meant Wear: Your interpretation of a party frock and heels. Classy trousers are acceptable for the men(ish) folk but a dress will not be sniggered at. Much.

Sticky Situation

Don't know if anyone has read the article today about captioning that went horrible wrong for an access screening of the "Queen" by Ryde Council.

My favourite line

The observation that "every newspaper proprietor has blood on his hands today" became "every newspaper proprietor has blown in his hands today".

Didn't realise the death of Diana would excite them that much - I know they got to sell a few more papers and all - but I guess it gets the point across that fleet street is full of wankers.

OK I'm punned out..

Get me a spoon...

Noodle and I had a little Oscars party last night with some champagne and quite enjoyed the show this year. Being the 80th annual Academy Award ceremony, they were prone to a few 'looking back' montages which I am a real sucker for, combining history with old-style Hollywood. (But hang on - how the HELL did Shakespeare In Love ever win Best Picture!?!)

In terms of the frocks, I wasn't really turned on by much at all this year... Everyone pretty much looked fine. Except for Tilda 'Where Would You Like the Probe' Swinton and Katherine Heigl's vegemite make-up, poor lamb.

I think Anne Hathoway probably won my best dressed vote. She looked quite fetching.

And for the third year in a row, Jack Nicholson was beyond cool. He's just so COOL!

But as for a show highlight, without a doubt it was the Best Actress winner. The very deserving Marion Cottilard was positively bursting with the sweetest, most contagious excitment when she got her statue, without turning into a spluttering fool like certain other hollywood 'actresses' who have scooped an oscar in the past. (Or was it that she DID turn into a spluttering fool but she did it in the cutest, chic-est way, only a French woman could pull off?)

I was thrilled for her. What a delicious, infectious moment it was!

I think I love her. YUM!
