...and so it continued both daaaay and night....or so the song goes anyway.
Monday rolled around and still no sign of him. Lovely M and I were by now just laughing at what an idiot he truly is. Lovely M cleaned out the work station previously occupied by Idiot X and found some credit card bills with loads of weird spending habits on them, he is forwarding them to me so I can make sure Idiot X gets them....oh the joy!
I emailed Idiot X and told him it was too late and that he'd be hearing from our lawyers. No response.
Today I got a phone call from Lovely M saying "We have a laptop!"
Huge break through...Idiot X obviously got a little scared and did a dump and run at Lovely M's reception. All the equipment and cards etc have now been safely returned. Lovely M is refusing to pay him the usual 4 weeks leave and is now insisting we only pay Idiot X till the 12th. My boss also wants to dock the legal fees from the final pay cheque as well.....we'll check to see if we can do that before we do though.
So to end the saga, idiot X not only got fired after 3 months and has to explain that away on his CV, he has also annoyed one of the largest players in the industry as well as our recruitment firm, and will have less that 2 weeks pay to show for it all.
Idiot could've finished up with 7 weeks pay in his pocket if he hadn't stuffed around so much.
Moral: Take a firing graciously, return the rubbish (it's no use to you anyway) make amends in any way possible and move the hell on!
